Curriculum

Starting with summer term 2019 the REMENA master’s program can be studied in six different study modes based on the sites where the studies are accomplished, namely, Cairo university (CU), university of Monastir (UM), university of Kassel (UKAS) and university of Sfax (US). The study modes are listed below:

The REMENA master's program offers three main types of modules offered in different universities. The modules include:

I.        Basic (B) Modules

II.       Elective (E) Modules

III.      Thesis (T) Project Module (Master Thesis)

The basic modules being taken during the first two semesters of the study in the REMENA master’s program are Compulsory. Clearly, each student is free to select combinations from the elective modules complying with the examination rules and corresponding to the individual knowledge and interest in the different areas. Finally, the module Thesis Projectcomprising 30 credit points (CP) according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) is to be conducted in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region or in Germany during the fourth semester.

Depending on the chosen study mode students get the double degree Kassel-Cairo  from UKAS and CU:

Studying according to one of the above-mentioned modes requires a successful passing of the basic modules during the first two semesters which in total are 32 CP, a minimum of 58 CP chosen from the elective modules as well as the module Thesis Project of 30 CP to be conducted in Germany, the MENA region, etc. during the fourth semester.

The basic modules comprise three groups, namely modules conducted in Cairo (C) during WS, modules conducted in Monastir (M) during WS and modules conducted in Kassel (K) during SS, respectively.
