Jens Jungblut joined INCHER-Kassel in March 2016 as a coordinator of the thematic area "Governance and Organization".

Jens studied political science, history and business administration at the Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz where he also received his Magister Artium degree. After working in the central administration for study programs and teaching at the University in Mainz for one year, he worked as a PhD research fellow at the University of Oslo’s Department of Education. His thesis has the title “Party Politics in Higher Education Policy – Partisan Preferences, Coalition Positions and Higher Education Policy in Western Europe” and was supervised by Prof. Peter Maassen and Prof. Åse Gornitzka. In addition to his doctoral dissertation work Jens published several peer-reviewed articles on topics in the area of higher education policy and governance, participated in externally funded research projects, taught amongst others in the Higher Education Master Program at the University of Oslo, administered the research group HEIK - Higher Education: Institutional dynamics and Knowledge Cultures, and was a PhD visiting fellow at Nuffield College, University of Oxford, and the Department of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Konstanz.

Jens’ main research interests include amongst others higher education policy, policy-making and governance, political parties and party politics, organizational change of higher education institutions, higher education in Sub-Saharan Africa, and the role of student unions in higher education policy and governance.

From 1st January 2017, Jens Jungblut will be responsible for editing the EJHE Book Reviews section.
