PhD Project Title:

A victory of the neoliberal transnational historic bloc under the new phase of globalisation? A neo-Gramscian approach to the Korea-U.S. free trade agreement

Abstract of PhD Thesis

This research will analyse the temporal, spatial backgrounds and processes of the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (KORUS), first signed in 2007 and passed by the US Congress and the Korean National Assembly in 2011, and evaluate its consequences, implications and foreseeable prospects from the Neo-Gramscian perspective. Of many aspects that the KORUS entails, the transformative facets of (trans-)national hegemony will be investigated and assessed.
