Subject Group of Social Educational Theory and the Sociology of Age & Life Stages

The Subject Group of Social Educational Theory and the Sociology of Age & Life Stages pursues teaching and research within the scope of the Institute for Social Work, whereby a multi-/interdisciplinary approach and practical, application-based orientation play a central role. In addition to the fundamental continuation and development of a theory and concept of social work, social educational theory, and social gerontology in research, teaching, and practice, the department defines its main focuses according to the classic ages of humankind.

In research, teaching, and practical and theoretical development, the Subject Group concentrates on social and everyday life problem complexes and action fields that affect persons of all ages throughout their entire lifespan. In addition to issues concerning specific target groups and generations, the Subject Group also pays particular attention to gender-specific and multiethnic issues in social work and cultural and media education, also with an eye on social policy.
