PROKLA publication by Sarah Uhlmann and Irina Herb "On the Contradiction between Accumulation and the Reproduction of Life: Social Reproduction Theory as a Comprehensive Analysis of Capitalist Societies"

We are pleased to announce that the article "On the contradiction between accumulation and the reproduction of life: Social Reproduction Theory as a comprehensive analysis of capitalist societies" by Sarah Uhlmann and Irina Herb has been published in the latest issue of PROKLA.

In their article, the authors examine the fundamental contradiction between accumulation and the reproduction of life in capitalist societies. Sarah Uhlmann and Irina Herb discuss three assumptions of SRT, which they present as a promising holistic theory of capitalist societies: Firstly, SRT considers not only "women's labor" but the entire "social reproduction". Secondly, it defines reproductive labor that does not directly contribute to surplus value as unproductive. Thirdly, it structurally links oppression to capitalist production. These assumptions have strategic consequences, which they discuss exemplarily in the context of class struggles.

We cordially invite you to read the article in the current issue of PROKLA. More information at: https://www.prokla.de/index.php/PROKLA/article/view/2107
