Admission Process for External Doctoral Students
If you are interested in a PhD at the Chair for Public Management (Prof. Dr. Sylvia Veit), and you fulfil the requirements set forth by the University of Kassel (more information), then you can apply as an external doctoral student.
We kindly request, that you send us a short letter of motivation, your CV and a copy of your diplomas. Your application should also include an exposé about the intended PhD project of about 5 pages length. This exposé is supposed to include information about the research question, the theoretical framework, the research design and the methodological approach of your research project.
In case of a positive review you will have an in-depth discussion with Prof. Dr. Sylvia Veit. Subsequent to this meeting, we will decide on your application. Before you will receive our answer, the consent of the PhD-Committee is needed.
We conclude a supervision agreement with all doctoral students. Doctoral students are expected to participate in a colloquium of doctoral students and present their progress twice a year. Furthermore, you should participate in an international scientific conference at least once a year and present your research results. The travel costs and registration fees for scientific conferences of external doctoral students unfortunately cannot be paid for by the Chair for Public Management.
