Molecular identification of chiral molecules in the gas phase

Chiral recognition in the gas phase seems challenging for certain systems but offers a variety of new insights into the mechanism of chirality dependent processes that are of major importance for life on earth.

The chiral systems investigated so far can be used to make the next step. Comparing the behavior of the characterized systems to a change of the used laser parameters such as wavelength or polarization state with theoretical modelling unravels the origin of the mechanisms governing the light-matter interaction in a chiral environment.

To understand the effect of chemical structure on the observed chirality, molecular modifications on well-known systems can be employed.
