Deposition techniques, layer growth, analysis methods for thin films, electronic, mechanical and magnetic properties of thin films, magnetic anisotropies, exchange bias, magnetoresistance effects, magnetic patterning.

Students...

  • obtain basic knowledge and an oversight over deposition and characterisation methods for thin films.
  • develop an understanding for electronic, mechanical and magnetic properties of thin films and gain knowledge of methods for their selective manipulation.
  • gain knowledge on magnetic coupling phenomena between thin films and their technical application.

The lecture scripts and exercises as well as further information on the lecture can be found in the Moodle course for the according semester.

Please note: the lecture takes place every winter semester. The Moodle course is sorted first by semester and then by lecture courses. It is recommended to print the slides in black and white als they contain lots of color images.
