Jens Stanzel is a political scientist with special focus on international- and politics of the green sector. He studied at the Georg-August-University Göttingen, obtaining a bachelor in political science and a Master of arts in global politics. His research interest includes forest policy, international relations, environmental politics and party research.
He specialised in forest policy with his bachelor thesis on actor power in in international community forestry and subsequent teaching as tutor in policy analysis of forest policy at the chair of forest and environmental policy. His master thesis lies in the field of narratives and legitimacy in international polices, focussing on sustainability-based legitimation narratives of general purpose regional organisations. As part of his bachelor study he absolved an internship for the human rights organisation “Society for the protection of endangered peoples” on human rights violations due to damn building in Myanmar (Burma). He trained his rhetorical skills with a certificate program of the ZESS and obtained basic knowledge on sustainability in a socio-environmental perspective with the program “Studium Oecologicum” of the University Göttingen.
At the University of Kassel, he is working on governance of the organic farming sector from the lenses of polycentricity. He was involved in the module “Agrar- und Umweltgovernance” and will assist in teaching in the coming terms.
