Social-Ecological Systems in the Indian Rural-Urban Interface: Functions, Scales, and Dynamics of Transition

Urbanisation is a global trend imposing push- and pull forces on rural-urban dependencies and driving profound changes in land use, household behavior, environmental quality and human welfare. The DFG-funded Research Unit FOR2432 will address agricultural transitions in the rural-urban interface, exemplified by the emerging megacity Bangalore.

In the context of this Research Unit, the following positions for PhD candidates were created at the Universities of Göttingen and Kassel .

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Extensive field work in India is required in all of the positions announced. Fitness for service in the tropics is therefore mandatory. The Universities of Kassel and Göttingen are equal opportunity employers and aim to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching. Qualified women are therefore explicitly invited to apply. In case of equal qualification, physically challenged persons will be given preferential consideration.
