Welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering

The department:
The department of civil engineering is part of the university of Kassel which was founded in the year 1971 and obtained university status in 1978. The faculty is offering two consecutive diplomas which are otherwise offered seperately by the Fachhochschule (FH) for the first diploma I and by the technical universities (TH/TU) for the second diploma II.

Structure of courses:
3 Semesters basic courses, concluded by examinations (Vordiplom), 4 Semesters advanced courses concluded by diploma I.
3 Semesters of postgraduate courses concluded by diploma II.
The diploma II is a prerequisite for entering the Dr.-Ing. (PhD) studies.

Postgraduate courses are offered within all the disciplines
The following 4 study directions are offered:
(1) construction and production technology, (2) construction management, (3) water engineering, (4) traffic and transportation engineering, (5) environmental technology

Continuing education is offered in the form of seminars, workshops and conferences with varying contents

Participation in international cooperation organisations:
International cooperations exist within the Tempus, the OECD programme "Ecological Ressource Management" , the COMETT II programme "CAAD LTS network" and the European BRITE/Euram II programme "Industrial & Materials Technologies"
