Our research projects are mainly connected to problems of reuse and structural safety of existing structures. If an adaption is possible instead of demolition of the existing and construction of a new building, ressources – material, energy, space for landfill – will be spared.
Main topics are the use of fiber-reinforced-polymers for post-strengthening of timber, masonry and concrete structures. Furthermore, experimental and numerical tools are developed and applicated for the examination of the structural safety of existing structures. In the field of timber engineering the focus lays on the combination of high performance materials for innovations in structural systems.

Partners are research foundations, universities, as well as mid-sized industries.
