Association for Language Awareness will take place 8.-11. July 2012 in Canada at Concordia University of Montreal, which is a partner university of the University of Kassel.

- The research project "The ABC’s of Cultural Understanding and Communication (TRANSABCs)" was selected for funding by the U.S. Department of Education, Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education und von der European Union: EXTERNAL COOPERATION/ US & Canada, EACEA - Education, Audiovisual and Culture. The principal investigators are Prof. Dr. Claudia Finkbeiner, University of Kassel and Prof. Dr. Patricia Ruggiano Schmidt, Le Moyne College, Syracuse, New York, USA. Funding period is from September 2009 till September 2011. Out of 75 applications 25 projects were selected.
 The 15th Kassel English Colloquium took place on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 in the Murrhardsche Library. Guest speaker was Dr. Joseph M. Cots, University of Lleida, Catalonia, Spain.
- A Guest Lecture of Dr. Bruno Di Biase / Dr. Satomi Kawaguchi (University of Western Sidney, Australia) to the topic: “Aligning Second Language Learning and CALLBlended and Tandem Learning” took place Thursday, July 9, 2009.

- Prof. Dr. Claudia Finkbeiner has unanimously been re-elected President of the Association for Language Awareness (ALA) in Hong Kong at the 9th International Conference of the Association for Language Awareness. She will host the next ALA Conference in Kassel (University of Kassel) in 2010. This will be the first time that the ALA Conference will be held in Germany.

Das Projekt wird von September 2009 bis September 2011vom U.S. Department of Education, Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education und von der European Union: EXTERNAL COOPERATION/ US & Canada, EACEA - Education, Audiovisual and Culture, Brussels gefördert. Insgesamt zwölf Partneruniversitäten in den USA und in Europa nehmen an diesem Projekt teil. Von insgesamt 75 Anträgen wurden 25 für die Förderung ausgewählt.
