Ambassador Lectures on the World Economy
The lecture series, 'Ambassador Lectures on the World Economy', organised by Prof. Dr. Christoph Scherrer in cooperation with the Kasseler Sparkasse Bank has been successfully taking place for the past six years. During this time numerous ambassadors, from diverse countries such as China, Singapore, South Africa and Italy have welcomed the opportunity of visiting Kassel to find out about its local structures and contributing to the ongoing dialogue and debate concerning certain issues of the world economy. The lecture series functions as a forum where ambassadors from various countries present their government's position on issues such as: agricultural protectionism; patent laws; the inclusion of labor rights and social dimensions in trade agreements; a new financial architecture, etc. During their stay the ambassadors sign the city’s Golden Book at the Mayor’s reception, meet with the Kassel business community, visit a company of their choice, and enjoy a guided tour of Kassel’s art treasures.
