from BERLIN to KASSEL, January 1, 2011
There will be a bus from the hostel in Berlin to Kassel on January 1. In Kassel, your host families will welcome you and take you to your “new” home.

    Arrival II: Kassel - January 1, 2011

The international airport nearest to Kassel is Frankfurt am Main. It is very easy to find your way to the German Railway Information counter ("Deutsche Bahn Information") and your way to the train station, both located at Terminal 1 (see airport map ca. 650 kB). At the German Railway Information counter, you can buy your ticket and get all the information you need to travel to Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe train station.

Journey from Frankfurt airport to Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe train station:
Trains from the Frankfurt airport to Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe train station depart approximately every half hour and last about 1,5 to 3 hours.

If you travel by "Inter City Express" (ICE) you have to depart at the station for long-distance trains on level 0 (see airport map ca. 650 kB).
Costs: approx. 50,- Euro one way
    Duration: approx. 1,5 - 2 hours

If you travel by "Regionalexpress" (RE) you have to depart at station for regional trains on level 0 (see airport map ca. 650 kB).
Costs: approx. 35,- Euro one way
    Duration: approx. 3 - 3,5 hours

Please note: If you take the Regionalexpress you can buy the "Hessenticket" for 30 Euro one way. Up to five people can travel on one Hessenticket. The more people you are, the cheaper it gets for every single person. Duration: 3 - 3,5 hours.

Since the IWU team will be on their journey back from Berlin to Kassel, we cannot pick you up from either the airport or the train station. But you should contact your host family before your arrival. They will pick you up from the train station in Kassel and take you to your “new” home.
