W 3 Professorship for Technology of energy conversion

Task profile:

The announcement addresses internationally renowned scientists with an outstanding research record in the scientific field of energy conversion technology, particularly in the field of examination of devices for the energy conversion in decentralized energy systems, e.g. in the combined power and heat generation.

The successful candidate will head the department of “Technology of energy conversion” and also strengthens and supplements the spectrum of methods of the institute of thermal engineering, e.g. in regard to innovative experimental, theoretical and numerical research on components for energy conversion, such as pumps, compressors, heat pumps or CHP (gas – micro turbines, etc.) In addition, the candidate will maintain and develop the leading role of the department in one or more of these topics, will participate or industry-related research is part of the candidate´s track-record.

The successful candidate is expected to show a high dedication to university teaching, proves successfully raised competitive third party funds, and offers a vivid publication-activity as well as international research activities. An active participation in research and teaching of the institute of thermal engineering (department of mechanical engineering) and within related departments is expected.

In addition, the collaboration in teaching basic and mandatory courses in the bachelor and master programs of the faculty of mechanical engineering is expected. The lectures “Fluid dynamics” and “Turbomachinery” has to be covered in the framework of the master program “Regenerative Energies an Energy Efficiency (REE)”, Additionally, the department is engaged in lectures for other study programs as required.

The participation in the academic self-government of the university is inherent part of the duties of a professorship.

Required profile:

The employment will be based on the performance requirements as started in §§ 61, 62 of the higher Education Act of Hessen.

The aptitude for academics work is generally proven by a habilitation or by an equivalent research-profile, which could be attained outside the university, as well as appropriate educational qualifications.
