- Overview of the most important failure phenomena
- Fundamentals of elasticity theory
- Residual stresses
- Material resistance variables for important stress cases
- Relationship between microstructure and strength
- Treatment of notch-free, notched, cracked and residual stress components
- Introduction to fracture mechanics
