Courses at the Studienkolleg Kassel

The information on this page is designed for those undergraduate applicants who have to attend a Studienkolleg (University Prepatory College) before taking up their degree course. Please see the information on entrance requirements for details.

The University of Kassel's Studienkolleg offers the following courses to prepare for the University Entrance Examination (Feststellungsprüfung):

• T Course for engineering, mathematics and science-based subjects
• W Course for economics and social science-based subjects

It takes two semesters (one year) to complete a Studienkolleg course.

Attending a Studienkolleg course and passing the University Entrance Examination (Feststellungsprüfung) will qualify you for university studies in the respective subject area.

Our Studienkolleg courses will qualify you for the following degree courses:

* = admissions restrictions (numerus clausus) in 2008/09

** = commercial languages (combined course: English/French/Spanish and economics)

If you wish to take up combined studies (e. g. in a Bachelor's, Magister or Lehramt course, you will have to attend the Studienkolleg course which prepares you for your major subject.

Courses at Other Studienkollegs

Apart from the T and the W course, German Studienkollegs offer G courses, which prepare for degree studies in the humanities (languages, history etc.), and M courses, which prepare for degree studies in Medicine and Biology.

If you wish to take up a degree course in these subject areas, you will have to apply to a university which offers the relevant Studienkolleg courses. The nearest Studienkolleg which offers a G and an M course is the Studienkolleg Mittelhessen in Marburg. If you wish to attend the Studienkolleg Mittelhessen, please apply for a degree course at the University of Marburg or the University of Gießen.

Passing the Feststellungsprüfung at any German University's Studienkolleg will qualify you for degree studies in the relevant subject area at the University of Kassel.
