Antoniya S. (Bulgarien)

Hallo,

Daniel H. (Australia)

"Hello, my name is Dan and I from Sydney, Australia. I studied in the Master program Global Political Economy at the University of Kassel and did my PhD in Political Science there too. What I liked most were the great mix of international students and groups and debates that went on around the uni campus Meanwhile, the outside (Kassel City) of the University had  an unfriendly atmosphere. What I will always remember is the weather, the small-town, provincial atmosphere and the underlying racism of the city. Kassel Uni was a pretty good place to study as the library is not overly crowded, it's cheap both in terms of student matriculation (fees) and cost of living and it's relatively easy to get a part-time job to help the finances while studying."

Juan David M. (Colombia)

Patricia C. (Canada)

"My name is Patricia and I'm from Canada. I studied in Kassel as part of the Global Labour University's Labour Policies & Globalization Master of Arts Program (2007 - 2008).  Kassel is small but this allows you the opportunity to get to the know the place and your fellow students. I was lucky to see Documenta (festival of modern art) that happens in Kassel every five years. If you're not in Kassel for the next Documenta, I recommend visiting the Museum für Sepulkralkultur (Museum of Death Culture). It's very interesting and surprisingly uplifting.  The coffee and food was pretty good at the Uni! :)

One negative aspect was that it was hard to travel around Kassel as the public transportation is limited and shuts down early. I do miss my fellow students and hope that we will all meet again."

Sarasi K. (Sri Lanka)

"My name is Sarasi and I from Sri Lanka. In Kassel, I did my Masters in DaF/DaZ. Fittingly, I work as a lecturer for German language in Sri Lanka now. I miss my friends, lecturers and the long walks in Aue Park. Usually, the winters were cold and the summers were hot when I was there, I also miss those days. Of course, I also love the Weihnachtsmarkt. There is just too many things to list that I miss. The bad part about Kassel is that it has no “Altstadt” , since it was destroyed during the war. I had really a great time; I had the most welcoming and friendly bunch of teachers and friends all over the world."

Safaa N. (France)

"I am Safaa and I come from France. I had an Erasmus Semester in Kassel. Most memorable about Kassel is the fact that the city is small, charming and I cannot forget the smile of the Kasselers when the weather was really bad. About the university, the professors are not only very competent, but also very nice and understanding with the fact that my German level was not high, so they made everything feasible. I could not thank them enough! The worst memory was the last day when I had to leave.

Kassel is an ordinary city, like any other one. But when you go there as an Erasmus, it feels like it is the best one in the world (I exaggerate a little). Unfortunately, this experience was short. So I recommend you to enjoy every single minute you have over there!"

Orlando Rodriguez G. (Colombia)

"My name is Orlando Rodríguez. I am from Colombia, and I studied in the Masters programme Global Political Economy at Kassel University from 2008-2010. The most memorable about UniKassel is the international environment. I had the opportunity to share every day with wonderful people from around the world. I learned about different cultures, represented by the international students at Unikassel. My friends are the best memory from UniKassel.

The most memorable about the city Kassel is the Weihnachsmarkt in December at Königsplatz. I met there with my friends to drink Glühwein and have some Bratwurst. Further, I remember the Salsa night in Maya Coba every Thursday.

The only bad part is…I did not like the weather in Kassel."

Ellen Y. (Hong Kong)

"Hello, I am Ellen Yan and I am from Hong Kong. At the University of Kassel, I studied the MA in Global Political Economy (2008-2011). What I love about Kassel is the summer and its peacefulness. Herkules, Orangerie, Open-Air concerts are also great. The University has a lot of ethnic diversity and overall a liberal atmosphere. However, the winter can be rough in Kassel, especially for people from Asia! Overall, I am satisfied with my time at the University, I just wished there was more support for finding an internship."
