Our department e²n works on research topics regarding medium and long-term aspect of innovative energy systems design. We are involved in multiple interdisciplinary projects that pursue the development of new concepts and methods for the analysis and operational management of the decentralized, renewable energy supply system of the future.
Of particular interest is the development of models and (real time) simulations of the power grid and its components. This allows us to describe and analyze different time scales and system levels. Another focus is an optimized operation of the distribution grid by multi-objective optimization, which takes different agents, control strategies as well as time scales into account. We use a wide variety of methods and tools in order to achieve these goals.

Our deparment closely cooperates with the Fraunhofer IEE.
