Between March and May 2017, our doctoral candidate Andreas Jahn completed a research stay at Sunway University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During this time, he was able to intensify his collaboration with ComTec Alumni Assoc. Prof. Sian Lun Lau and get to know the country and its people.

Scientific discussions were held on the topics of IoT/context recognition/smart city and ideas for joint papers were developed. The collaboration will be continued and deepened in the future. Assoc. Prof. Lau has already signed up for a return visit to Kassel.

Malaysia was unexpectedly little "Asian". The multicultural coexistence there is very Western in character. The society is open and effortlessly integrates several faiths and cultures. University life therefore followed familiar patterns. Open discussions without hierarchical constraints were easily possible. Student life was also comparable.
