Student Research Assistant Position: Python Simulation for Sector-Coupled Energy Systems
Project
In the IntelliEMEs research project, we develop predictive control and monitoring for sector-coupled energy systems that combine electricity and heat. To test new ideas before field deployment, we are building a Python-based simulation that replicates the behavior of a real energy system.
This simulation allows us to develop control strategies and analyze system behavior before they are implemented in real-world systems.
Your Tasks
- Contribute to the development of a modular Python simulation framework
- Implement models for PV systems, storage systems, heat pumps, and heating systems
- Work with real input data (weather, prices, demand)
- Run simulation scenarios and analyze the results
- Support testing of the simulation software
Your Profile
- Studies in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a similar field
- Experience with Python and Git
- Basic knowledge of control systems or optimization is a plus
- Interest in renewable energy systems
- Reliable and team-oriented working style
