Participation in the DFG Priority Program “GaNius” Workshop at Technische Universität München (TUM)

The Department of Power Electronics (LE) visited Technische Universität München (TUM) from May 6 to 8 to participate in the Summer School and Young Researcher Workshop of the DFG Priority Program 2312 (GaNius) – Energy Efficient Power Electronics.

The Department of Power Electronics (LE) visited Technische Universität München (TUM) from May 6 to 8 to participate in the Summer School and Young Researcher Workshop of the DFG Priority Program 2312 (GaNius) – Energy Efficient Power Electronics.

On the first day, Prof. Jens Friebe presented the fundamentals, challenges, and recent research developments related to magnetic components in WBG-based power electronics. Prof. Friebe also introduced current research activities and projects related to this topic being conducted within the Department of Power Electronics.

Yasser Yousefi, research assistant at the department, presented the project “ReToGaN – Investigations of Reliability, Parameter Stability and Topologies for GaN-Based Power Electronics,” a collaborative research project with the Chair of Power Electronics at Chemnitz University of Technology. The presentation highlighted the project's achievements, current status, and presented future work and proposed solutions to overcome the challenges.

Additionally, we had the opportunity to attend several other interesting presentations from both academia and industry. During the meeting, the group also visited different facilities of Würth Elektronik and Infineon.
