Claude Draude to present at SAR 2026

Claude Draude will present her experimental work "Echoes Beyond the Prompt: Embodied Intervention in Generative AI", at the 17th Conference of the Society for Artistic Research (SAR), taking place June 23–26, 2026, at the University of Galway, Ireland.

The world’s largest conference for practice-oriented research, under the theme “Endangered Conceptual Worlds,” explores how artistic research contributes to preserving linguistic and cultural diversity, particularly in light of current technological developments in the field of AI. 

The presentation “Echoes Beyond the Prompt” develops an alternative to the conventional, text-based control of AI systems by placing the human body at the center as an epistemic site. In a lecture-performance based on the Japanese art of Butoh dance, the interaction shifts from prompting to parametric modulation: Instead of altering the semantic content, physical states such as breath, tension, or stillness are used to directly influence technical parameters of the model (e.g., temperature or latency).
