ECPE Magnetics Workshop at the Department of PowerElectronics

On June 23 and 24, an ECPE (European Center for Power Electronics e.V.) Magnetics Workshop took place at the Wilhelmshöher Allee site. A total of 140 industry experts—about half of whom participated online—spent two days discussing current trends and challenges in the design and construction of magnetic components for power electronics.

Our department not only supported the ECPE in organizing the event but was also represented by two presentations. Prof. Peter Zacharias opened Day 2 with a keynote speech on "Pulsed Power Applications in Power Electronics and Their Requirements for Magnetic Components", while Prof. Jens Friebe—who also served as Technical Chair for the event—presented the current state of research conducted by our department and our partners at KU Leuven and HSU Hamburg in the field of "Controllable Magnetics."

In addition, we were able to offer on-site participants guided tours of our laboratories—including the high-voltage and automotive engineering labs—and present our current research priorities. We are grateful for the consistently positive feedback from the participants and would like to thank the ECPE for the opportunity to host this event at the University of Kassel.
