At the Data Protection Day on January 28, 2025 the Demokratie-X project was represented by Konstantin Lackner (FG PIT, University of Kassel), Pascal Altenkamp (Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich) und Lukas Köllnberger (University of Passau).

The research project Demokratie-X is a collaboration between four universities (LMU, University of Kassel, University of Passau and TUM) and five disciplines within those universities (economics, sociology, PIT, jurisdiction and technical informatics). In a climate of ever more polarising headlines, quality newspapers and reliable journalistic integrity being done in for the sake of Social Media and attention grabbing bits of information that have no regard for truth or values (beyond a monetary one), and general distrust in information, governments and maybe even democracy itself, these five disciplines try and analyse whether a “gemeinwohlorientierte” (meaning in the spirit of the public interest), “privatheitsschonende” (→ privacy preserving) platform for real journalistic work is possible, feasible and what it entails.
