Das Fachgebiet Gender/Diversity in Informatiksystemen am Fachbereich Elektrotechnik/Informatik der Universität Kassel bestand von 2017 - 2022. Seit Januar 2023 gibt es das Fachgebiet Partizipative IT-Gestaltung im selben Fachbereich.
Die Inhalte der GeDIS-Website dokumentieren die Arbeit des ehemaligen Fachgebiets und werden nicht mehr aktualisiert. Für Informationen zum neuen Fachgebiet und unseren Tätigkeiten besuchen Sie bitte die neue Website unter uni-kassel.de/go/PIT.
Über GeDIS
Willkommen bei der Forschungsgruppe Gender/Diversity in Informatiksystemen (GeDIS) am Fachbereich Elektrotechnik/Informatik der Universität Kassel, Deutschland.
GeDIS bringt Perspektiven aus der Gender- und Diversitätsforschung in die Informatik ein, um Innovation und Inklusion durch einen soziotechnischen Ansatz zu fördern.
GeDIS ist Teil des interdisziplinären Forschungszentrums für Informationstechnik-Gestaltung (ITeG), das sich auf sozial verantwortliche IT-Gestaltung konzentriert.
Verantwortungsbewusste, sozial nachhaltige Digitalisierung fördern wir durch verschiedene Kooperationen: Prof. Dr. Claude Draude ist beratendes Mitglied des neu gegründeten Kassel Institute for Sustainability. Zusammenarbeit besteht darüber hinaus auch mit dem ZEVEDI - Zentrum verantwortungsbewusste Digitalisierung sowie Bits & Bäume - Die Bewegung für Digitalisierung und Nachhaltigkeit.
Wir betreiben den Blog enginesofdifference.org als Teil unserer interdisziplinären, innovativen und experimentellen Aktivitäten. Damit gehen wir über die regulären disziplinären und thematischen Grenzen im Rahmen unseres Research Labs hinaus.
Wir sind ein multilinguales Team und unsere Arbeitssprache ist Englisch, weshalb auch der Großteil der Inhalte auf dieser Website in Englisch vorliegt.

Re:Coding "Take Care" Lab: Caring-Infrastructuring Otherwise
In this lab, we look at the definitions of care that have been in-place and have rapidly changed its meanings during the time of the COVID-19 Pandemic. We will look at the different modalities and the infrastructures of care during the Covid-19 pandemic as interdependent relationships of sharing resources and community networks. We will try to understand and look at the ways to build awareness and the practices of how taking care established itself in the societal politics in the digital world and beyond.
After registration for the lab, you will receive the Zoom link and a chapter from each of the following books Matters of Care: Speculative Ethics in More than Human Worlds by Maria Puig de la Bellacasa and Care Work Dreaming Disability Justice by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha. These texts will be of use as a contextual framework and won’t be directly discussed in the lab.
