Job Opening - GeDIS is Looking for a New Student Assistant

Gender/Diversity in Informatics Systems (GeDIS) research group is looking for a student assistant for 12 h/week to help organise the conference “New Materialist Informatics 2021”, starting immediately.

Job description

New Materialist Informatics 2021 is an international conference that connects informatics and the humanities & social sciences through the innovative field of new materialist research. It is dedicated to exploring sociotechnical approach to informatics and relation between informatics and social, cultural, environmental and political domains. This three-day event offers interdisciplinary keynotes from world-renown lecturers and presentations around theory and praxis at the intersection between informatics and new materialisms. The conference will take place online. We are looking for an active student assistant to help us organise some of the practical aspects of this event.

Tasks

  • Support with organisation of the New Materialist Informatics conference, including answering general queries about the conference, facilitating management of applications, helping with conference scheduling, assistance with putting in place digital conference infrastructure, assistance and presence during the conference.
  • General administrative support.

What we are looking for

Reliability, responsibility and pro-active attitude
Good organisational and time management skills. Experience with organizing a conference and/or other type of events is a plus.
Very good communication skills
Good knowledge of English and German (written as well as spoken)
Familiarity with MS Office. Experience with Typo3 and familiarity with digital event management and social facilitation tools is an advantage.
