GreenSports certification

Register your course as a GreenSports course and set a visible example of sustainability in university sports.

Why certify?

With the GreenSports certification, we want to firmly anchor sustainability in university sports.
The certification offers you many advantages:

• Visibility: Certified courses are highlighted on the website and in print media.
• Motivation: You actively contribute to a sustainable sports culture.
• Exchange: You become part of a community of committed trainers.

Who can take part & where?

• All university sports instructors can take part.
• Pilot phase: Currently with courses in the Aueparkhalle and task-Halle.
• The project will be extended to other courses in the coming semesters.

Registration

• Each trainer registers their own course for GreenSports.
• Start of registration: from October 9, 2025
• Registration by email to:greensports[at]uni-kassel[dot]de
• Participation: free of charge

Evaluation & criteria

• Evaluation period: October 19 to Christmas 2025
• Evaluation basis: the new criteria catalog
• Start with verifiable, practical criteria such as
  • Material care & resource conservation
  • Social aspects (e.g. multilingualism, diversity training)
  • Organization & communication (reliability, representation, workload)
  • Safety & responsibility (first aid certificate)
  • Effect on participants (experience of sustainability in the course)

We are aware that sustainability encompasses far more than the selected criteria. However, after intensive discussion, we have deliberately agreed on a small, verifiable selection for this start.
The project is therefore intended as a pilot - we want to start with clearly measurable criteria and build on them.

Course evaluation

All participants evaluate their course afterwards according to the following aspects

• Conservation of resources
• fair play
• Diversity
• Perception of sustainability in the course

Award & certificate

The best courses will receive an award at the end-of-semester event (February 2026).
You will receive an official certificate that will be published on our website and in print media.

You can also win materials for the course worth up to €1,000!
