SchlüsSL - Key competencies-oriented Service Learning

Leading an anti-bullying workshop for girls, developing a podcast about poverty or organising a critical walking tour through Kassel; participating in a seminar which gives you relevant inputs and space for reflection; writing a project report; all while earning study credits - this is SchlüsSL!

Since 2014, students can take this interdisciplinary Service Learning-seminar in which they cooperate with non-profit institutions and initiatives in Kassel, plan and organise a self-selected volunteering project within 60 hours over the semester, and earn up to 6 credits for additive key competencies.

In 2020/2021 and 2021, international and German students could also participate in the SchlüsSL-Interkulturell-seminar, which additionally covered "intercultural competencies". In the summer term of 2021, the SchlüsSL-Interkulturell-seminar was offered in English and German, with a focus on projects and campaigns against the isolation of international students during the coronavirus pandemic. In the current semester (winter term 2021/2022), the English-language SchlüsSL-Interkulturell will not be offered.
