Student methods consultation

You are studying psychology and looking for additional support in the methodological planning and implementation of your empras, project seminar or thesis project?

It often helps to get an overview of your project by talking it through with another student.

We can answer questions regarding:

  • Planning of the study design (e.g. power calculation)
  • Selection of appropriate statistical methods
  • Data preparation
  • Performing the statistical analysis
  • Advice on helpful methodological literature and software (e.g., advice on R packages, assistance in resolving error messages)

These are the limits:

  • Keep in mind that it needs to stay your own academic work. We can only advise you if you can formulate a concrete concern and have already thought independently about the solution. In particular, we will refer you back to your supervisor for basic questions about hypothesis formulation and result interpretation.
  • We do not produce text or code. We only respond to specific questions and help with specific R problems. We also expect you to bring your own concrete solutions that we can work on together.
  • We do not proof read your text or code.
  • We can't answer content questions, only methodological ones.
  • We do not replace your mentoring, especially during the Empra. If you feel you can't turn to your supervisor, we can talk about that too and find a solution. However, we cannot offer permanent supervision.
