Postdoctoral Seminar of the International Association of French Studies
We cordially invite you to explore the new online format offered bythe International Association of French Studies (AIEF). We are launching a series of seminars during which we will come together to discuss recently published doctoral dissertations. The authors of these dissertations will engage in discussion with invited commentators—who are also experts in the relevant field of research—as well as with an interested audience.
The first session will take place on October 26, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., via videoconference. Research on Caribbean literature will be the focus of this first session, which is dedicated to two remarkable works that deserve our full attention:
The study *Haiti: Land and Perspectives. An Ecopoetic Analysis of the Landscape in the Works of Early Novelists (1859–1923)* by Silvia Boraso, accepted as a doctoral dissertation at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the University of Paris-Est Créteil, and published by Honoré Champion in 2025. The dissertation will be discussed by Professor Charles Forsdick of the University of Cambridge.
The study *From Color to Bitterness: The Writing of Michèle Lacrosil*by Stéphanie Vélin, a doctoral dissertation defended at Sorbonne University and published by Classiques Garnier in 2024. The commentary will be provided by Professor Sarah Burnautzki of Heidelberg University. The discussion will be moderated by Agnieszka Komorowska, a member of the AIEF board and professor at the University of Kassel.
Organizers: Paola Cattani (University of Rome III); Edyta Kociubińska (John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin); Agnieszka Komorowska (University of Kassel); Christophe Schuwey (University of South Brittany)
