Regina Kesting

Bio

In 2002, I began my teacher training in English and Catholic Religion (L3) at the University of Kassel. I spent a semester abroad at the University of Surrey, UK (2003), and completed a teaching internship in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada (2006). From 2006-2007, I worked as a student assistant in the ADEQUA research project on foreign language education and intercultural communication at Uni Kassel. I was also active in the International Student Tutoring Program from 2005-2010.

After earning my First State Exam in 2008, I completed my teacher training at Ursulinenschule Fritzlar, passing the Second State Exam in 2010. Since then, I have taught at various schools, and since 2011, I have been a senior teacher at Friedrich-List-Schule Kassel, teaching English and bilingual Catholic Religion at upper secondary level, including Abitur exams. I have served as Head of the Religion Department since 2011 and led the English Department from 2013-2018.

My teaching experience also includes vocational education and mentoring pre-service teachers in cooperation with Stephan Mason (University of Kassel). Since 2017, I have held a teaching position in School Practice Studies II and, since 2022, work as an academic staff member of the chair.

• Since 2013: Development and implementation of the learning support concept - individual support and guidance for learners in developing personal responsibility and designing individualized learning processes through counseling sessions based on systemic approaches.

• Since 2014: Project "We're off" then-educational journeys with students along the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago) in Germany, Portugal, and Spain.

• Since 2016: European School Project - exchange with the Helsinki Business College (annually), including successful participation in WorldSkills competitions with Teemu Vesalainen

• 2017: Planning of the art project for Documenta 14 "Learning from Athens"

• 2017-2019: Advanced training in school pastoral care: Living, Guiding, Supporting
  Topics: counseling/mediation, transactional analysis, networking, emergency and crisis management, dealing with conflict and bullying, and supporting students during times of loss, death, and grief

• Since 2019: School chaplain at Friedrich-List-Schule, Kassel

• Since 2018: Launch and development of the Meet US project in cooperation with Fulbright Germany - conversations between American guests and school classes

• 2022: Collaboration in the Erasmus+ project CoGI+ (Cooperation Germany-Israel)

• May 2023: International collaboration on AI with Kibbutzim College and Tel Aviv University in Israel
