What does the everyday life of a trainee at a major daily newspaper actually look like? Jana Keßler gives an exciting insight into her work at the Hessisch/Niedersächsische Allgemeine (HNA ).

After completing her Master's degree in German Studies at the University of Kassel in January 2025, Jana Keßler went straight into a two-year traineeship at HNA. Prior to this, she had already gained journalistic experience as a freelancer at the radio station. Today, she changes local editorial offices every three months and gets to know the whole spectrum of regional journalism. Every day is different and that's what makes the work so exciting. From October, Jana Keßler will be working in the Kassel district editorial office in the Pressehaus on Frankfurter Straße, reporting directly from the heart of the city.

HNA is part of the Dierichs publishing house, is published Monday to Saturday with a circulation of 133,465 copies and offers a wide range of opportunities for young journalists. The traineeship in particular is regarded as an ideal opportunity to enter the industry, with varied stations, exciting topics and a strong team in the background.
