In December 2020, German Chancellor Angela Merkel called for research into how we end up in a world “that, so to speak, speaks a different language.” She was referring to the spread of anti-science sentiment and conspiracy theories in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s Frankfurt Debate is dedicated to the connections between conspiracy theories, language, media, and society.
