Author Lisa-Marie Dickreiter visits the University of Kassel
The Institute of German Studies at the University of Kassel is delighted to welcome novelist and screenwriter Lisa-Marie Dickreiter as a guest lecturer. Dickreiter is known for the Karlchen series, which was awarded the German Children's Book Prize in 2023, as well as for the youth book series Max und die Wilde Sieben and her debut novel Vom Atmen unter Wasser, which won the Thaddäus Troll Prize. She was included in the FAZ's "20 under 40" list (the best German-language authors under the age of 40).
In her seminar for student teachers, she focuses on one of the central questions of primary school education: How can children be inspired to read in the long term? Starting by reflecting on their own reading experiences, the students explore which books really captivate children - from classics of children's literature to current new publications - and develop their role as reading role models. In addition to tried and tested formats such as reading aloud or the morning reading book, digital tools such as the Antolin reading platform are also critically examined in terms of their opportunities and limitations.
The second half of the seminar has a particular practical relevance: the students act as a jury to evaluate anonymous applications for a real children's and young adult book scholarship: the BuntStift scholarship from the HMWK Hessen. In this way, the seminar combines personal reading experiences, theoretical principles and concrete application situations and prepares participants to inspire children in elementary school to read in the long term.
The event begins on April 24 as a block event. Participation is still possible.
