Sebastián Vargas Álvarez
Historian, professor, and researcher based in Bogotá, Colombia. He holds a degree in history and a master’s degree in cultural studies from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, as well as a Ph.D. in history from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. His primary fields of research and practice are the politics of memory and the public uses of history. He is currently working on "Genealogies of Public history in Colombia”, a research project that aims to trace, contextualize and connect diverse collaborative practices of historical knowledge production in Colombia during the second half of the 20th century.
