Campusfest 2024: The IfSS, university sports and task present themselves

On 23.5.24 it was that time again. The University of Kassel's campus festival attracted around 8000 visitors. The Institute of Sport and Sport Science (IfSS), General University Sport and task were all represented on campus and presented themselves in a variety of ways.

One highlight was a performance in the area of gymnastics/dance (IfSS). An exam choreography from the previous winter semester was shown on the campus stage. Students Selina Hassenpflug and Christoph Ertelt were able to impress with their stage professionalism and received much applause for their self-designed choreography "Ballast".

A joint project by Departments 05 and 02 entitled "Game of Swords" also provided an insight into historical fencing as a sport, which was presented by athletes from the HEMA club "Historisches Fechten Gießen e.V.". The event was rounded off with a demonstration of modern Olympic fencing by the Kassel Fencing Club. The interdisciplinary introduction was followed by an interested audience in front of the library and was rewarded with a great deal of applause.

General University Sports awaited the visitors in the canteen, where an exciting pull-up challenge met with many enthusiasts. The challenge took place over two rounds. Despite the rain in the first round, many motivated participants took part. The final finally took place in the sunshine and ended in a close duel. In the end, both a winner and a runner-up were applauded for their impressive performances. The winner of the hearts was by far the university mascot.

The IfSS and task were also on site with the Cycassel cycling project. Two of the projects were also there: Nilrad, which teaches motor skills for cycling, and 'The Fahrrädselt Tour of Street Arts', which invited participants on a puzzle tour to explore street art in Kassel. The first 'Kassel Cycling Week', which took place in April, was also presented.

Many thanks for the commitment of the students and Employees involved!
