Expertise on the expert hearing

(dvs, DSLV, DOSB) As previously reported, an expert hearing was held in Frankfurt on November 19, 2010, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Scheid (Vice-President Education, dvs) and others, focusing on "Qualification in the context of sport, school and school development". Invited representatives from the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), the German Sports Youth (dsj), the German Association for Sports Science (dvs) and the German Sports Teachers' Association (DSLV) discussed the demands for qualification and sports teacher training formulated in the 2009 memorandum on school sport.

Taking particular account of the educational policy changes in schools and universities, the joint aim was to identify current problem areas within the qualification measures of the participating institutions and to highlight future needs for action for the organized sports system, sports science and the sports teaching profession.

The topics discussed included the 'Sport in all-day sports' training course for B-level instructors, the introduction of Bachelor's and Master's degree courses in teacher training, the linking of the first (degree) and second (traineeship) training phases and the initial, further and continuing training of active teachers. Various problem aspects were identified for these subject areas and a correspondingly urgent need for well-founded research results was pointed out.

The aim is to work on relevant research questions on school sport that provide practicable findings for the participating institutions. As part of a further expert hearing, these questions will be addressed in the fall of 2011 and the possibility of a scientific study on the situation of school sport will be discussed.
