Around the world with the Christmas tournament week

General University Sport is preparing for the next big event. From Monday, 21.11.2011, students, staff and guests of the University of Kassel can register for the traditional Christmas tournament week. From December 19 to 22, 2011, various competitions will be held at Damaschkestraße from 5 p.m. onwards.


The starting point on the first day of the "world tour" is Europe: soccer will be played. 10 players are allowed per team. On Tuesday, the journey goes to Asia. Badminton is a very popular sport on this continent. In doubles mode, all athletes get their money's worth. On the same day, it's on to Canada: the lacrosse teams led by Alexandro Ladron and Svenja Schröder will present this Canadian national sport in an impressive way. On Wednesday, the Christmas tournament will be on the North American continent. The winning team will be determined in US national sport No. 1 basketball. Eight players are allowed per team. Ultimate Frisbee, another US sport, presents a prestigious tournament that evening between the neighboring universities of Kassel, Göttingen and Marburg. On Thursday, it's back to Europe again: the volleyball mixed tournament will be dominated by spiking, digging and blocking. Two of the six positions on the volleyball court are reserved for women.
