If you need a letter of preliminary suitability for your DAAD scholarship application, please send us an e-Mail with your CV and your latest transcript of records and check whether your average grade is sufficient and if all other requirements (language, one year of social-political experience, suitable degree) are fulfilled.

The graduate program targets German and international candidates who have completed a first academic degree program (Bachelor’s, Baccalaureus) of at least six full-time semesters, in social sciences, political science, economics, law or a related field and earned a cumulative grade of “good” (2.5 according to the German grading system, "upper second" class honors, or grade "B" in the U.S. grading system) or better.

Proficiency in English is necessary for participation in the program. Non-native English speakers should present one of the following certificates: TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English, DAAD Sprachzeugnis oran equivalent certificate.

The score needed for admission is 90 points in TOEFL (IBT), and 6.5 in IELTS, C1 in Common European Framework of Reference of Languages:

Applicants who have completed their first degree fully in English are exempt from this requirement.

A complete application package should include the following documents:

2. Officially authenticated photocopies of academic certificates (a Bachelor's certificate or equivalent if already available) - please hand in one version in the original language, as well as one official translation into English/German if needed
   
   
3. Officially authenticated photocopies of latest transcript of records in English or German, as well as an explanation of standards of the certificates
   
   
4. Officially authenticated photocopies of TOEFL, IELTS, DAAD Sprachzeugnis or Cambridge CAE scores (not required from native English speakers or students with a continuous education in English)
5. Statement of Objectives (in English)
   
   
6. Proof of one year of voluntary or paid practical social-political experience (for example, in politics, university politics, or in policy-oriented civil society organizations)
   
   
7. Curriculum Vitae

Applicants can prove their practical social-political experience e.g. by attaching a certificate of participation in a certain project / work for an organisation or a formal letter from their (former or current) employer/supervisor, specifying the period (duration) of the internship/job and, if possible, the duties of the applicant.

If you graduate after the application deadline, please provide the latest version of your transcript of records together with a formal letter from your University stating your expected graduation date.

In case you apply without your final degree certificate, you will have to present your B.A. certificate (or equivalent) to the Admissions Office at the University of Kassel by January 15, 2016.
