Vita  (Ana Bisbicus (M.A.))

Ana Bisbicus studied architecture at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Glasgow School of Art. Their work operates at the intersection of artistic research, education, curation, and spatial design. In 2024, they co-founded Habi Practice حبي with Sarah Hachem, focusing on projects that examine the relationship between architecture, race, and coloniality. They have developed educational formats at UdK Berlin, Fachschule Erfurt, and Universität Siegen, as well as within the Dekoloniale Academy 2023. From 2019 to 2024, they were part of fem_arc, a Berlin-based collective exploring architecture through feminist perspectives. Working with groups across generations, they experiment with methods that facilitate discussions on designing socially just spaces. In 2023 they participated in the conference With/out Identity – On the Question of Identity Constructions in Space, Heritage, and Communities, organized by the DFG Research Training Group "Identity and Heritage," where they presented their research "Tracing Nepantla." which explores the concept Nepantla as a spatial and transformative in-between state, drawing on Gloria E. Anzaldúa’s concept of Borderlands. Using cartography and  embodied methods, it maps Nepantla’s manifestations as spaces of negotiation, transformation and resistance in the city. In 2025, their text “The Space Between Two Bodies of Water – Artistic Exploration and Spatial Approach to Gloria E. Anzaldúa’s Understanding of ‘Nepantla’” will be published in the Bauhaus University Press series “Identity and Heritage.”
