Caring Communities | Seminar

Seminar

supervised by: Dr. techn. Christiane Feuerstein
The concept of caring communities has emerged in the context of socio-demographic change, which presents many communities and municipalities with the challenge of finding solutions to the increasing need for health promotion, care and support.
In view of the necessary socio-ecological transformation, ecological aspects are also included in the seminar in order to create a living space that takes into account the needs of both humans and other living beings.
To this end, we will first analyze a selected area - a settlement or a section of an urban quarter - in order to design small architectural interventions - micro-architectures - based on these results, which - temporarily or over a longer period of time - contribute to improving the place for people, plants and other living beings.

The number of participants is limited to 15. As the seminar is organized in cooperation with the seminar "Caring Communities. Principles and Projects" by Prof. Dr. Verena Brehm, preference will be given to participants in both seminars.
The seminar takes place against the background of the so-called WIA 2025 - "Women in Architecture" Festival. It is the first nationwide festival that aims to make the achievements of women* from A, S and L visible. As part of FB06's contribution to the festival, various teaching formats will highlight the achievements of female planners and the topic of diversity in building culture.
