What is the university network? The university network, founded in 2024, is actively committed to anchoring sustainable teaching content and promotes interdisciplinary exchange between colleges, academies and universities in the fields of architecture, urban planning and civil engineering. Contact persons of the university network at FB06 ASL is Prof. Dr. Verena Brehm, FG Designing in Urban Contexts.
What is the lecture about? The construction industry is one of the most resource-intensive sectors and contributes significantly to the climate crisis. A sustainable transformation therefore requires a fundamental reassessment of existing planning and construction processes. Under the title "Perspectives on the existing", the lecture series is dedicated to the question of how ecological and socially just planning and construction can succeed and be more strongly integrated into academic education. With this series of events, the university network aims to provide further impetus for sustainable architectural education. The hybrid event format enables broad participation from different universities and departments. The lectures will shed light on central aspects of the building transition in a dialogical format and deal with topics from theory and history, processes and digitalization, economics and the common good as well as energy, comfort and standards. The focus will also be on construction and circularity, social issues in the context of cities and neighborhoods as well as building culture and design.
