From 1898 until the end of the second world war, young men were trained at the german colonial school in Witzenhausen to work as specialists and so-called “cultural pioneers” in the former german colonies in the field of colonial agriculture and/or to “settle”.

Between 1908 and 1910, the Colonial Womens School also existed in Witzenhausen, where young women were to be trained for work in the colonies as so-called “cultural carriers”, "comrades" and potential wives.

With the colonial-critical tour around the campus in Witzenhausen we would like to discuss the background to this history together at a place of rememberance of german colonialism, explore visible traces on the site and exchange views on the references up to the present day.
