CALL FOR APPLICATIONS BIS 25. AUGUST 2025

Autumn Academy 2025 “City Care Commons”

06. - 11.10.2025 in Frankfurt am Main

A cooperation of Deutsches Architekturmuseum, Museum Angewandte Kunst and Historisches Museum Frankfurt. As part of 100 Years of Neues Frankfurt.

During the Autumn Academy, current urban and housing policy issues will be addressed and discussed: What solutions are there for a housing and land policy geared towards the common good? How can the current housing stock be repurposed? What kind of urban welfare infrastructure do we need? And how can kitchens be communalized? The Autumn Academy uses the concepts of City / Care / Commons to look for perspectives for an economically, ecologically and socially just city. The Neues Frankfurt, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2025, provides the basis.

Application:

The Autumn Academy City / Care / Commons - 100 Years of Neues Frankfurt invites people from different disciplines and fields. Participation is open to all interested parties, regardless of their (specialist) background. However, in order to promote fruitful and intensive joint thematic work, this call for applications is primarily aimed at advanced students in Master's programs, doctoral candidates and/or active participants who, for professional or personal reasons, have previous experience with the topics of the Autumn Academy. Applications are particularly welcome from:

- Architecture and urban planning

- Art and design

- Social and cultural sciences

- Urban research and activism

- Administration and urban policy

The plan is to work intensively in seminar groups with the mentors mentioned above. Each seminar has a maximum of 10 to 15 participants. In the afternoons, the seminar groups are brought together through excursions, exhibition visits and workshops. Public discourse and cultural events take place in the evenings. Participation in the Autumn Academy is free of charge. Travel and accommodation costs are paid by the participants themselves. The organizers will endeavour to provide support with accommodation to reduce the costs for participants.
