ASL-Fachwerkgarten | A Learning Space in the great Outdoors

The Half-Timbered House Garden is located in front of the Half-Timbered House, right on Gottschalkstraße. It serves as a public learning space and meeting place for all members of the department and the University of Kassel. It was created in the 1980s, alongside the renovation of the Half-Timbered House, as a modern reinterpretation of a traditional cottage garden.

Since summer 2021, the Open Space Planning Department has taken over responsibility for the half-timbered garden. It is maintained by four students from the Urban and Landscape Planning program. Anyone interested in helping us with the gardening, or who has ideas or suggestions, is very welcome to contact the Open Space Planning Department!

The garden is open to everyone. We ask that you observe the following few rules of use:

  • Please dispose of trash and cigarette butts in the trash can located on the wall of the Kolben Seeger building, across from the garden entrance.
  • Returnable bottles can be placed in the returnable bottle bin next to the streetlight at the garden entrance.
  • Please also pick up and dispose of dog waste.
  • The half-timbered house houses two departments as well as student work and seminar rooms. We ask all users to use the garden quietly during regular office and class hours.
  • Please do not step on or break through flower beds and hedges, and please leave flower heads in place even if they have already bloomed.
