Research at the ASL Department

The ASL Department is actively engaged in research across the entire spectrum of planning and construction. The research ranges from modeling using digital design techniques, determining requirements for climate-neutral buildings, exploring issues of urban governance and the sustainability of urban development, investigating the development of post-industrial landscapes and examining the sustainability requirements for river basin management and sustainable land use management practices.

Research takes place at all organizational levels: both in the individual disciplines, as well as in thematic bundles such as institutes, research groups or research-related collaboration (e.g. regarding sustainable planning and construction, energy-efficient building, climate-friendly cities).

Furthermore, there is close collaboration with other research centers, including the Center for Environmentally Conscious Building (ZUB), the Fraunhofer Institute of Building Physics and the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research Leipzig-Halle (UFZ).
