On August 20, 2020, the "Zukunftsdialog Smarte Region" was a virtual guest in Kassel. It is organized by the Hessian Minister for Digital Strategy and Development, Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus. The host this time was the city of Kassel.

Dr. Christoph Peters, project and research group leader at Professor Leimeister's Department of Information Systems, gave a presentation entitled "Awaken the Hercules in you" at this event together with Peggy Niering from the City of Kassel in the "Digital Coexistence" section, which was based on the results of the "Civitas Digitalis" project funded by the BMBF and supervised by the PTKA.

Various topics relating to the state of digitalization in the Kassel region were on the agenda at this event. After a welcoming address by Minister Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus and a representative of the City of Kassel, Prof. Dr. Klaus David fromthe University ofKassel gave a presentation on applications, technologies and challenges in the context of digitalization and smart cities. In addition to the presentation by Dr. Christoph Peters and Peggy Niering, there were further presentations on the topics of "Expanding the digital transport infrastructure in Kassel", "Personal mobility assistants", "Fibre optics for Kassel", "Digital youth participation in Kassel" and "Digital town hall".
