On April 26, 2019, Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister, Head of the Department of Information Systems and Director of the Scientific Center for Information Technology Design (ITeG) at the University of Kassel, gave a lecture at Nanyang Technological University Singapore. The lecture took place as part of the "Research/Seminar Talk" series of events there. Nanyang Technological University Singapore is a university in the city-state of Singapore and is one of the most renowned universities in Asia and the world. In the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) ranking, for example, it is ranked 7th in Asia and 51st worldwide and, with an improvement of 123 places in this ranking since 2010, is also one of the fastest-rising young universities in the world.

Professor Leimeister's presentation was entitled "Why and how to keep crowd workers motivated". Based on an online survey of 434 crowd workers from 23 platforms, the content of the lecture dealt with the perceived satisfaction with crowd work, a better understanding of this new form of digital work in general and the question of how perceived task characteristics and financial compensation together influence desirable working conditions for crowd workers. Professor Leimeister's presentation was followed by a joint discussion.
